About Dr. Meg

My Path to Psychology

My path to psychology is both personal and professional. I grew up in rural Iowa with a sister who received an autism diagnosis at a time when the field – and the resources available to families – looked very different. We didn't have much, and we didn't know much. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I also navigated my own relationship with a brain that works differently. Those early experiences shaped everything: my curiosity, my commitment, and ultimately my career.

I am a licensed psychologist with deep expertise in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults with neurodevelopmental conditions – including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disabilities – as well as the challenges that frequently travel alongside them: anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Training & Experience

I received my graduate training at the University of Arizona, where I worked across school and community mental health settings delivering both therapeutic services and diagnostic evaluations. During my predoctoral internship, I served as evaluation coordinator at a K-8 school, overseeing assessments for special education eligibility while also providing evidence-based behavioral and academic interventions.

My postdoctoral training at The Help Group deepened my expertise in psychotherapy with autistic youth and comprehensive developmental and diagnostic assessment. I also received specialized training through UCLA's Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) in early childhood behavioral assessment and participated in the Care and Research in Neurogenetics (CARING) Clinic. I later worked at a specialized nonpublic school, where I developed a social skills program and provided coaching for teachers and parents.

I currently serve as Senior Psychologist at Spectrum Psych Los Angeles, where I divide my time between assessment and therapy, consult with colleagues across disciplines, supervise fellow clinicians, and provide expert testimony.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative and genuinely holistic – drawing from both "Western" evidence-based frameworks, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and "Eastern"-rooted practices that work directly with the nervous system, such as mindfulness, breathwork, and polyvagal-informed interventions. I believe that lasting change lives at the intersection of mind and body.

Collaborative care is central to how I work. I regularly partner with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and providers across disciplines to ensure each person is supported as a whole – not just a diagnosis. Whatever the approach, my work is guided by a core belief: every individual carries inherent strengths, and my role is to help them access those strengths to navigate both internal challenges and external pressures.

Outside the clinic, I'm a devoted martial artist, a lover of wild places, and someone who shows up loudly for causes I believe in – because I think the best clinicians are ones who are also fully alive in their own lives.
